Workforce Board
What is the Workforce Development Board?
The primary purpose of the Lower Shore Workforce Development Board is to provide policy and oversight for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds awarded to the Lower Shore of Maryland Local Workforce Development Area (WDA).

Workforce Development Board
The Lower Shore Workforce Development Board is federally mandated to work with major corporations, small businesses, educational institutions, community-based organizations and labor organizations to provide workforce development leadership throughout the region. The Lower Shore Workforce Development Board links adults and youth in the Lower Shore region with career opportunities in emerging and critical industries. We are dedicated to creating a community driven economy.
Meetings are held quarterly; locations are throughout the tri-county area. Meetings begin promptly at 11:00 am. Upcoming dates are:
- June 14, 2023 – American Job Center, Salisbury, MD
- September 13, 2023 – TBD
- December 13, 2023 – American Job Center, Salisbury, MD
- March 13, 2024 – TBD
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee is a sub-committee of the Board whose purpose is to set the agenda for full Board meetings, make recommendations to the Board on actionable items, and review staff recommendations related to all aspects of funding. Steering Committee members are appointed from the membership of the Board. The Committee meets monthly except for those months with a Board meeting.
Meetings are held at least quarterly. Upcoming meeting dates are subject to change. Meetings are held at the American Job Center in Salisbury MD from 3:00 to 4:30 pm. Upcoming dates are:

Youth Committee
The Youth Committee serves as architects in designing and building comprehensive youth services at the local level. It identifies gaps in services and develops a strategy to use competitive selections or community partnerships to address unmet needs of youth. It coordinates youth policies, ensures quality services, leverages financial and programmatic resources, recommends eligible youth services providers and prepares and discusses planning for the Youth Advisory Committee meetings.
Youth Committee meetings are held bi-monthly. Upcoming meeting dates are subject to change. Meetings are held via Zoom, except for where indicated, from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. Upcoming dates are:

Grants and contracts
LSWA utilizes a competitive bid process to select service providers for the delivery of training and employment programs funded by WIOA.
